The Kentucky Derby is more than just horse racing; its an opportunity to get involved with the local community and celebrate everything Louisville has to offer.

Each year, the Kentucky Derby brings excitement and enjoyment to those who make the trip to attend. Whether you’re just here for the races or are more interested in the numerous lead-up events, there is something for everyone to enjoy. For the Phoenix IT team, The Kentucky Derby is more than just horse racing; its an opportunity to get involved with the local community and celebrate everything Louisville has to offer.

Cutting Loose For A Great Cause

For the third year in a row, we’re thrilled to be among the participants in the Battle of the Bounce. Part of Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville, the Battle of the Bounce, is an incredibly entertaining event that pits four-person teams against one another in a scramble to complete an obstacle course made up of inflatables. A relay-style race, teams crawl, climb, jump, and slide their way through the course, trying to clock the fastest time.

Taking place Wednesday, May 1st from 11AM – 1PM on the Great Lawn at the Waterfront, this event is much more than an excuse for us to indulge our inner children for a few hours. This one-of-a-kind race will benefit a trio of deserving organizations: Christian Care Communities, Kentuckiana Stroke Association, and Mattingly Edge. We’re especially proud to be supporting Mattingly Edge, a client of Phoenix IT.

How Does Mattingly Edge Help The Community?

For more than 65 years, Mattingly Edge has given support to men, women, and children with disabilities in an effort to help them live their lives to the fullest. Originally a school for children with cerebral palsy, the organization has transformed over the years into a day program, and then to supporting those with disabilities in ways that allow them to work and live in the community the same as everyone else.

The stigma surrounding those who live with a disability has many unfair consequences for these individuals that go beyond discrimination. Gaining employment, securing a place to live, or simply maintaining control over their own life is a challenge as even well-meaning people tend to undervalue a disabled individual’s ability to function in and contribute to society.

Breaking down that stigma is just part of what Mattingly Edge is working towards with those they support.

We’ve Got A Busy Month Ahead Of Us!

In addition to participating in the Battle of the Bounce in early May, Phoenix IT is proud to be sponsoring and contributing to a number of other amazing events going on in Louisville – including the Derby itself!

Here’s what our Derby Kick-Off event calendar looks like:

This year’s Derby Festival promises to be a fantastic time for all involved. How many of these events will you be attending?
